The shift begins before midnight
Whoever starts at 22:00 and leaves at 06:00 works on two calendar days. Split into two halves, neither the daily target nor the break rule nor the premium comes out right.

The shift planning chapterNight, Sunday, public holiday — each with its own time window and its own rate. Done by hand that is an hour's work at the end of the month and a source of queries afterwards.
The premiums chapterTwo school days a week, plus block teaching and holidays. Anyone who has to keep that in their head while rostering will sooner or later plan a shift that cannot be filled.
The vocational school chapterThe plan is made in the same program as the time tracking. What was actually worked, the system recognises from the clock-in time — and works out target, breaks and premiums to match.

A shift may run across midnight. It is planned as one duty, clocked as one duty and calculated as one duty — with the target and the break rule that belong to it.

The calculation follows the shift actually worked. If somebody steps into the night shift at short notice, the premium is still right — and the difference from the plan stays visible.
Groups and sites represent the branches. Planning, attendance and reports can be viewed per branch; management keeps the view across all of them.
Every apprentice has their school timetable on file. From it the system generates the school days, so they are already blocked in the roster before anyone plans a shift on them.
Each premium type carries its own wage type number, which takes precedence over the general mapping in the export. On top of that there is a report showing the premiums alone.
